The 2009 - 35th Anniversary Reunion

 for the

Daramalan Class of '74.

On Saturday 14 November 2009 about 50 old boys and 5 partners celebrated the 35th Anniversary Reunion for the Daramalan Class of 1974.  The festivities  were held in the new function room, part of recently completed hospitality wing at the school which Leo Clarke described as ".......... it is a fabulous open space on the first floor of the new extension (- it is down the oval about where Mick Ward and his cronies used to smoke.)......." See the newsletter for more info.

We had Cuckoo Habibi provide the catering for us (- a very substantial and splendid Mediterranean buffet) and got everyone to BYO so there was no shortage of liquid refreshments! The reliving of past glory days and story telling, punctuated by plenty of raucous laughter, continued without abatement until about 1 am. The carefully selected 70s music could not even be heard, yet alone appreciated above the  din which must have given most vocal chords a real work out.

The Deed

On the night Michael Ward took up a collection for Tim Markcrow, a current Dara student who suffered an bad back injury in a motor bike accident. The Reunion organising committee also kicked in substantial donation and all together the Class of 74 raised some $750 to contribute to Tim's medical costs and rehabilitation.

The Challenge

The Dara Class of 74 challenges other classes of Dara old boys/girls to match or better our donation to Tim's cause.

Some comments from those who attended the reunion:

Thanks guys I had a great time catching up with everyone. Really appreciate your efforts. Rgds Goodo

Terry just a word, glad I made the effort to come over. Suffered a wee bit of lethargy on Sunday but I enjoyed the cause. Look forward to the next one and maybe a catch up and a beer next time I am in Canberra. Cheers Paul O'N

Hi - It was a great night on Sat - lots of fun and good to catch up with everyone.  I've got to say thanks for all the time and effort that each of you must have put in to get the whole thing up and running....and organising some of those Dara boys, well that wouldn't have been too easy. Thanks again and look forward to the next one. Regards Phil D

What a good night Saturday...thanks to you guys (and Gilbert et al) for organising it. By the way Leo, I got around to reading the newsletter and it is very funny and well written.  Good on ya.   Greg T

Thankyou for organising the 35th reunion and please pass on my thanks to the others involved. I must say that I was somewhat hesitant about the night but thoroughly enjoyed catching up with everyone once I was there. Hopefully I'll see you in another five years time.  Cheers Pete L

Hi Terry, thanks for a great evening on Saturday, I'm sure to be giggling to myself with amusement for weeks to come. Thanks again to all who helped organise the night regards Tim F
